Help - Moneyextra Downloads
Downloading shares from Moneyextra is easy!
Getting Data onto your hard drive
When you click on a "Download" link, your browser will either automatically save the file to your hard drive, or it will prompt you for a name and location. The files are (for example):
For the FTSE 100: ftse100.csv
For the FTSE 250: ftse250.csv
For the Popular Shares: popular.csv
When the file has been saved, start your preferred spreadsheet program, and simply open the file from the location you have saved it.
Advanced: Direct Spreadsheet Import
For simplest operation, you can tell your browser that .csv files should be opened in your spreadsheet program, e.g. Excel. That way, as soon as you click "Download", instead of saving the file your browser will start your spreadsheet program and import the data directly to it. To set this up, please consult you Windows or relevant operating system Help files
Saving other files
You may wish to save other links to your hard drive. Most browers allow you to do this quite simply. Instead of clicking on a "download" link as usual, try one of these options:
PCs
IE users, right-click the link and choose "Save Target As" from the menu. Netscape users, hold down the "shift" key when clicking on the link.
Macs
Hold down the "option" key and click on the relevant link. This will work in both IE and Netscape.
A dialogue-box will appear, allowing you to choose where to save the file on your hard disk. You can also choose what to call the file. Usually, you will not need to alter the filename.
If your browser is not mentioned here, you may have to refer to the specific documentation that comes with it.
