Use cards that attract no surcharges, says expert

Use cards that attract no surcharges, says expert
As Brits tighten their belt, cut their expenditure and try to find the best loan rates around, an expert has advised making a small change with debit card payments.

A spokesman from Candidmoney.com said that while debit card surcharges are relatively small, they can quickly build up so people worried about them should vote with their feet.

"The best way to avoid greedy businesses who try to profit from debit card surcharges is to avoid them and take your business elsewhere. If this isn't practical, then check whether they accept any cards without a surcharge. Electron and some pre-paid cards might be allowed," he explained.

New figures from the British Bankers' Association published last week suggest consumers are becoming wary about debt and have started looking carefully at their spending habits to see what small changes they could make.

It also found that repayments on unsecured lending outstripped new borrowing in August by around £100 million.ADNFCR-2088-ID-800739495-ADNFCR
