Travel Insurance - Don't travel without it!

Compare single, annual and long term travel insurance policies

With parts of the UK due to hit 30 degrees this week and the schools breaking up for summer in the next few weeks, many brits will be turning their thoughts to travelling abroad for their annual summer holiday.  However what is also important is ensuring a safe trip and getting the right travel insurance

Whether its camping in France, cruising on the med or taking a more adventurous trip further afield, having the right travel insurance policy is an essential part of any travellers checklist.
With the rise in popularity of budget airlines many people are booking DIY holidays as opposed to the more traditional package deals, however in the excitement of booking a long awaited trip, the need for travel insurance can be easily overlooked.

Gone are the days when travel insurance used to cost a small fortunate, however consumers are urged to check very carefully the costs of policies offered by their tour operator as research has shown that a by comparing the various policies available a family of four can get travel insurance cover for a week in Europe from as little as £10, a massive saving of over £50 on an similar policy from a leading tour operator.
As with all policies, the benefits and excesses can vary widely so it’s also important to set aside five minutes to make a full comparison rather than just take out the cheapest travel insurance policy.  The cover that is offered by each policy will vary greatly, and some of the cheaper travel insurance policies available will exclude baggage and cancellation cover, and likewise others will include excessively high limits such as £20 million medical cover, when in reality £2 million is sufficient.

Another common mistake that is made is not being aware of what a standard policy does and doesn’t include, for example most travel insurance policies will provide cover for sports such as scuba diving up to a certain depth, however they probably wont cover anything more adventurous such as paragliding or bungee jumping which feature as attractions in many holiday resorts.    However, cover can still be provided for these activities as an “add on” to most standard policies, so by letting your travel insurer know before you go, sports can be securely covered.

In all the furore of planning and going on holiday, it can be easy to overlook the need for travel insurance and in the current times it can also be disregarded as an unnecessary expense, however by shopping around and comparing the various travel insurance policies around, cover can be purchased for less than the cost of a jug of sangria
