This little piggy came to market - commodities investing

Graham Tuckwell, Chairman, and David Shrimpton, Head of Product Development, ETF Securities - with investment!

Investors looking to take advantage of what's claimed to be a roaring long-term bull market in commodities now have the opportunity to do so on a much simpler basis. Direct investment in commodities is now available to ordinary investors for the first time through a groundbreaking London Stock Exchange listing.

Previously investors would have had to look to the commodity futures markets for exposure with their only alterantive option being to invest in stocks that are sensitive to commodity prices, for example BHP Billiton.

In a move that sets a record for the largest number of simultaneous listings - a total of 29 exchange traded commodity funds are being made available to investors.

The funds include 19 individual commodities including gold, copper, coffee and crude oil and 10 baskets of commodities including 'energy only' and 'all commodities' - that tracks the spot price of commodities and may be traded in exactly the same as shares. You'll even be able to invest in live pigs!

The new exchange traded funds are being listed by ETF Securities, which currently has over 2 billion under management in gold bullion and oil ETCs listed on the LSE, Euronext Paris and Euronext Amsterdam.
