The Share Centre’s Share of the Week
Company: Bowleven    Share price: 1248p    Sector: Mining
Recommendation:    Buy
Risk category:    Higher
Investment class:    Growth
Opinion: Followers of the stock will be aware that the company has had a rather chequered history. The hope is that this is about to change.

The drilling update in July and the investment by a well regarded investor in the industry suggest that this could be an interesting speculation.

Bowleven’s drilling rig has moved recently and is now at its Sapele-1 site, again off the coast of Cameroon and drilling is due to start imminently. Results are due to take 70 days which gives us a date in early November. One broker is suggesting that positive results could lead to at least an increase of 320 pence per share. The company are also due to produce results near that time and so November is looking to be a very important month for both investors and the company.

There is of course the risk that the drilling may fail and that nothing is found.  This is the risk with exploration companies; however this is one where we feel the risk is worth taking.
