New motorhome owners 'should be aware of insurance needs'
Many people have been tempted to invest in caravans and motorhomes over the past year, it has been reported.
According to the Caravan Club, a 23 per cent rise in new memberships has been witnessed during 2009.
This represents a record increase in numbers, suggesting that many people have turned to this form of travel for the first time.
Over the October half-term break, the Caravan Club saw a 12 per cent like-for-like rise in overnight stays further evidence of an apparently emerging trend.
Cover provider Adrian Flux claims motorists who are a member of a recognised owners' club or enthusiasts' forum such as the Caravan Club may qualify for cheaper motorhome insurance.
The insurer says that buying a motorhome is "as much about the lifestyle" as providing a form of transport and accommodation.
