Most Brits 'prepared' for Xmas spend
More than one quarter 28 per cent of Brits are not worried about the state of their finances this Christmas, new research has revealed.According to a survey by Fairinvestment.co.uk, many consumers have made advanced financial preparations for the festive period.
Some 14 per cent have already bought everything in advance, while 12 per cent have earmarked some of their savings for their Christmas spending.
However, eight per cent claim they will be paying for Christmas with a credit card, while two per cent will be taking out a loan.
Rachael Stiles, spokesperson at Fairinvestment.co.uk, said: "It is good to see that the festive period has not been spoilt by the credit crunch for most people.
"Credit through cards and loans can be handy at Christmas, but it is important to shop around and compare a range of deals because rates and repayment periods vary from one lender to the next."
Recent research by Halifax showed that 31 per cent of Britons had agreed to impose a spending cap on Christmas presents for friends and family.
