Money saving tips for Valentines Day

Money saving tips for Valentines Day

Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.

With growing pressure on Brits to splash out on loved ones during the next few days February 14th can be an expensive day and night for all couples.

So here are some top tips to make sure you love the costs as well as the person you are spending it with.

Vouchers

In this economic climate, vouchers are a perfectly acceptable method of covering romantic costs.

Dinner dates should always come with a buy one get one free voucher, weekend breaks should be 50% off and gifts bought in the sale.

Make some money

If you’re not celebrating Valentine’s Day this year, why not make some cash out of it. Offer to babysit for anyone who has children, if you are working past midnight you could try and charge more!

Offer to cook for couples, saving them on the washing up and the hassle of crowded restaurants.

You could also make your own Valentine’s Day cards and sell them at a local market or to your local art gallery for a bit of extra cash.

Do it yourself

The cheapest and thoughtful of all gifts have to be those that are homemade.  For example, you could make a mix tape or shouldn’t that be an MP3 or CD of songs your partner loves, however, don’t pull a Chandler from Friends moment and give your new love a mix-tape made by your old flame.

Alternatively, instead of buying a bunch of expensive flowers, why not just pick your own. You could also make your own cards and decorations and have a romantic homemade meal.

Skip dinner

If you are on a tight budget why not enjoy the best of both worlds by cooking a romantic dinner at home and then going out for dessert and drinks?

This way you can enjoy a home cooked meal, preparing your loved ones favourite dish and then going to an expensive restaurant just for dinner and drinks afterwards: the best of both worlds.
