MIB and Top Gear working on car insurance education
The Motor Insurers' Bureau MIB has joined forces with Topgear.com to help educate drivers about the dangers of entering uninsured vehicles.
As part of the MIB's Stay Insured campaign, visitors to the popular BBC2 show's website will be able to read up on key legal information.
They will also be able to check that their own vehicle is insured, using the MIB's Motor Insurance Database, reports Insurance Age.
The campaign is largely targeted at younger drivers, who the MIB claims are the most frequent car insurance offenders.
Such motorists are also the most likely to cause accidents during their first 12 months on the road, it is claimed.
According to the MIB, the Motor Insurance Database lies "at the heart of being able to detect uninsured drivers" and is used by the police to seize around 500 vehicles a day.
