Mega Monday 'to see credit card splurge'
On what the firm refers to as 'Mega Monday', it predicts that £122,330 will be spent on Visa cards every minute during the day.
The final Monday closest to the start of December is said to be the busiest online shopping day of the year, with over £100 million spent on debit cards alone across 2.4 million transactions.
Visa predicts that the busiest period for online sales will be around lunchtime, with another peak expected at 19:00 GMT.
"Part of this trend is that customers will go online to see if they can find a better deal on an item seen in a shop," the firm stated.
Earlier this month, David Black of Defaqto told the Times that good credit histories are needed by consumers seeking the best credit card deals.
