HSBC extends opening hours

HSBC extends opening hours
HSBC has announced that it will be increasing the number of branches that open on Saturdays, which could be another factor to consider alongside the best savings interest rates when choosing where to open an account.

The bank has also revealed that it will be opening 80 of its branches later during the week, which could be useful to those who cannot access these facilities during work hours.

Peter Keenan, head of network at HSBC plc, said that this will allow banking to become something which is no longer "squeezed into the lunch break".

He said: "As a bank, we are no longer competing for a share of our customer's wallet but rather for a share of their leisure time."

Mr Keenan said that this is why it is important to be open during when their customers have free time.

Earlier this year, HSBC announced that it would be offering a split-rate mortgage where people would be able to fix a proportion of the borrowed sum while using a tracker rate for the remainder.ADNFCR-2088-ID-19923637-ADNFCR
