Good energy habits can save money
Households can save money on their energy bills which they can they use to earn the
best savings rates by breaking bad habits, it has been claimed.
New research by uSwitch revealed that 30 million Brits are wasting money though the inefficient use of electrical items.
Six in ten leave their set top boxes switched on overnight, 49 per cent leave TVs on standby and over a quarter do not turn games consoles off at the mains.
"Energy efficiency can start with simple steps such as turning things off when they are not in use or using a standby saver, while using an energy monitor will track your usage and help you understand where your energy goes," said Kevin Sears, energy efficiency expert at uSwitch.com.
USwitch.com recommended only using dishwashers and washing machines when they are full and turning the latter down to wash at 30 degrees.
Tom Entwistle, director of LandlordZONE.co.uk, advised families really trying to build up money to get the best savings rate to get a lodger to boost income.
