Finance issues 'not the top priority'

Finance issues \'not the top priority\'
The nation's top three priorities are spending time with loved ones, family health and personal health, a new study from insurance group LV has indicated.

Research indicates that despite the ongoing recession, money worries are not the be and end all for UK consumers – hinting at the emergence of less material attitudes than seen before the downturn.

Some 64 per cent of interviewees said they had been forced to reassess their life priorities over recent months, with the majority focusing on enjoying their life rather than worrying about the economy.

Mike Rogers, LV group chief executive, said: "It is important for people to take stock of their financial situation. Everyone can take some financial steps, however small, towards protecting the things they love most in life.

"For example, insuring the breadwinners in the family for loss of income will make only a modest impact on most people's finances, yet can provide vital assistance if the worst should happen."

Last month, the Nationwide reported that over a quarter of people in the UK currently save nothing at all and 60 per cent put aside "less than they should" for a rainy day.ADNFCR-2088-ID-19249246-ADNFCR
