Energy price cuts - SSE follows suit
Following recent initiatives from British Gas, npower and Powergen; Scottish & Southern Energy SSE has announced that it too is cutting its energy prices.
Effective March 1st, 7.5 million SSE customers will benefit from a 12% cut in gas prices and from April 1st, a 5% reduction in electricity costs, cutting £89 off an average annual dual fuel energy bill.
So far 4 of the 'big six' energy suppliers have confirmed energy price cuts - the remaining two, EDF Energy and Scottish Power, having yet to make any formal announcement.
Powergen and npower are reducing gas/electricity prices by 16%/5% and 16%/3% respectively - the cuts due to be implemented on April 30th.
British Gas meanwhile is to cut gas and electricity rates by 17% and 11% respectively - effective March 12th.
