Latest financial news - market news, credit card news, mortgage news.

London has been hard hit by the recession, with jobs disappearing, businesses being taken over and people are generally finding that life is not as it once was. Sometimes people lose their job very quickly, going into work one day only to find out that their company has gone bankrupt or hearing one week that the company is fine, only for it to go belly up the next week. So it is little wonder that so many people have found themselves in debt. They have not been able to plan for a less rosy future, it has just been foisted upon them.
However, there has been a kind of boom effect with regard to the world of debt management advice a by-product of the credit crunch and all the associated problems has been that debt management advice agencies and services have experienced a boom. So now there are more ways than ever to access debt management services and to be able to get help to talk through some of the problems that people face.
It almost seems ghoulish, as if people are finding a niche market created out of very hard times and now they are exploiting people. But that is actually far from the truth. The reality is that most of the debt advice jobs or debt management advice jobs available in London, are actually funded by the Government or statutory/voluntary agencies, which means that they can offer their debt management advice for free.
Some ‘for profit’ companies do undoubtedly exist. However, these offer clients the opportunity to bundle all debts up into one big package and then just have on lender/company to deal with. They do make a profit, but they can also offer a pretty good deal to people who may already be paying very high rates of interest!
So although there has been a significant growth in terms of debt management advice agencies, they should not be seen as preying on the vulnerable, more as people and agencies that can help people take control of their money and their debts!
