Debt Advice in Frome

NULL

Frome is a ‘picture postcard’ little market town in Somerset. With a long history, vibrant atmosphere, relatively affluent population of less than 30,000 and a good tourism industry, you may well think that Frome is completely oblivious to any problems of the 21st Century.

Yet this is far from the reality of the situation. Frome experiences problems such as poverty, social problems, debt and so on, in the same way that other parts of the UK experience these problems: nowhere is immune!

One aspect of the credit crunch is that many people who were relatively comfortably off, saw their savings literally disappear, if they were in stocks and shares, so many people who enjoyed a reasonably comfortable standard of living found that they were now actually much worse off. So for the first time, debt became a reality for them, rather than debt being something that happened to someone else.

Debt advice in Frome therefore became more and more of a necessity and more people found that debt advice became more difficult to access, because the Citizens Advice Bureau was literally overwhelmed with the number of people wanting debt advice.

Extended services providing debt advice have helped take the pressure off people in Frome and they are now able to access more debt advice and general advice on debt and financial matters, meaning that they feel less isolated and alone.

So in some ways the credit crunch has really projected Frome into the 21st Century and people are now aware that the problems of debt, poverty and people not being able to afford a specific way of life, are as relevant in Frome than in other parts of the country! In a sense, no where is immune from requiring advice on debt or debt advice and Frome is certainly no exception!
