Debt Advice Beyond Citizens Advice

One of the UK’s leading providers of specialist debt advice on serious debt issues is urging debtors not to panic about the news that 500 debt advisers will be losing their jobs in Citizens Advice bureaux, thanks to the loss of Financial Inclusion Fund monies as from March 2011.

Debt Free Direct is worried that those in debt will read the headlines and believe that they will have to go it alone with their debt woes

With a predicted 1.6 million people expected to need debt advice this year, the bureaux are likely to find coping with demand tough, leading to what could be financially disastrous waiting periods for debt advice, or a situation in which debtors simply do not bother to seek any advice. Many who could resolve their debt situation if they acted quickly, will simply compound the problem and then be unable to rescue their finances without significant hardship.

Debt Free Direct is reminding those in debt that they offer their own specialist debt advice.  Skilled, personal and friendly advice is available seven days a week to help those needing debt assistance and help can be accessed with one phone call. No appointment is necessary.  All advice is based on individual circumstances and delivered by trained debt advisers. Advice is compliant with OFT rules and regulated by DEMSA.

Debt Free Direct Director and Insolvency Practitioner, Nicola Teader, says: “There is absolutely no need for debtors to go it alone, just because funding has been withdrawn from the Citizens Advice network.  We ourselves provide advice, which can arm someone in debt with all the knowledge they need to decide on the course of action they can take.  Whether they then follow advice is up to them, but they will not have paid a penny to get it and will be armed with an assessment from a specialist.

“We only charge a fee if we administer a Debt Management Plan or an Individual Voluntary Arrangement IVA . There are no upfront costs and our charges are clearly stated.  Our most popular solution is an IVA – the fee basis for which is set out in an IVA Protocol and is identical regardless of who runs the IVA – a charitable organisation or a commercial organisation. ., So There is no saving to be made on fees on an IVA by shopping around.

“We find that hundreds of people are perfectly happy to pay the fees for our administration of their Debt Management Plan, as this gives them access to good advice and a fast service without an appointment. ”.

Anyone wishing to access debt advice which will empower them to take the right decision with regard to their own, individual debt issues, can call Debt Free Direct on 0800 630 0714.  There is absolutely no obligation to act on advice.
