You’ve got the turkey, the stuffing, the sprouts, the presents, the tree and everything else for the big day.
However, there may be some things on your Christmas checklist you might have forgotten about…
Here are 10 things to consider this Christmas;
1. Winter pipes!
Burst pipes are one of the most common claims on home insurance. Check that you are covered and keep your heating on during the cold snap, especially if you are going away.
2. Last minute post
Make sure you’ve left enough time to post those cards and last minute gifts.
3. Batteries
Come Christmas day, the last thing you want is a collection of grumpy children. Stock up on batteries for children’s toys and gadgets that might need batteries to operate them. Alternatively, you can buy rechargeable ones to save money in the long term.
4. Grab a bargain
Many retailers have pushed their sales forward in a bid to entice shoppers after a few disappointing months. Some leading high street brands are slashing prices by up to 50%.
5. Winter tyres
If you are driving home for Christmas, driving to the in-laws, or generally driving people around, you may want to make sure your vehicle is fully prepared for winter. With snow and ice settling in various parts of the country, it could be worth investing in some winter tyres.
6. Film swap
If you are sick of the Christmas repeats and have watched your own films far too many times, why not swap films with friends and family before the big day so you have something new to watch? It could also save you a significant mount in rental costs.
7. Lock the doors
Having so many people over at Christmas can be distracting. With a house full of new and expansive gifts, Christmas thieves could be lurking. Don’t forget to make sure all the windows and doors are locked, including the garden shed and gate.
8. Skype the relatives
Don’t bother calling your relatives overseas, you can use much cheaper ways to send your Christmas wishes. By using Skype, you can make free international calls to other Skype users.
9. Avoid Boxing Day blow outs
If you’re heading to the shops on Boxing Day, try not to overdo it on the credit cards. The sales will be around for another month and items will get cheaper towards the end of the sale.
10. Have a good time!
Finally, make sure you enjoy yourself and have a merry Christmas!
