Cheap ways to keep the kids entertained over half term

Cheap ways to keep the kids entertained over half term

With half term fast approaching, panic stricken parents will be frantically looking to plan the time off.

For many this includes booking holidays, adventure activities and finding other methods to keep their little ones occupied over the break.

Despite all the available fun filled activities, they all come at a price.

Even arranging a sleepover for six can cost more than a sleepless night for most parents.

The cost of DVD rentals, popcorn and a day out can all add up.

Luckily, we have dived into our bargain box and found a range of cheap ways to keep the kids entertained over half term.

Set them a project

Kids are used to having a routine in school whereby they have ongoing projects. You can use this to your advantage by setting them fun projects they would not usually do in school. For example, creating a fun scrapbook of all their favourite things is a great idea.

Teach a cooking class

Children are learning all the time and it’s important that they experiment with food to know what they do and do not like.

Not only that but it opens them up to trying new experiences and learning about what foods go together.

When cooking dinner or lunch, go through the process step by step with your youngster and get them to help you with sourcing the ingredients or adding ones they think may work.

If you don’t want to risk ruining the family dinner, why not try and make a range of sandwiches with weird and wonderful fillings selected by your young one.

Free events

Check out what’s on in your local town such as free events/classes/workshops in a community centre. You could head into the nearest city to go around the free museums such as the Natural History Museum in London.

Alternatively, there are plenty of free activities such as feeding the ducks, playing in the park, going to a friend’s house.
