Cashquestions.com: Government needs to focus on employment

Cashquestions.com: Government needs to focus on employment
The focus for helping parents who may be struggling to make ends meet and looking for the best savings rates needs to be on employment, it has been claimed.

Annie Shaw, editor and director of CashQuestions.com, said that providing help with childcare costs will benefit low income families, but that nothing will be as valuable as finding them work.

The comments follow an announcement by the Department for Work and Pensions which revealed that childcare support will be paid to around 80,000 more households.

"Obviously any help for low income families is to be welcomed, but really the problem is actually providing those jobs in the first place … That is a bigger problem – actually finding employment, rather than subsidising the childcare," Ms Shaw explained.

She added that the problem with the government offering financial help at the moment is that the money is usually diverted from other sources so may affect others who also need aid.ADNFCR-2088-ID-800756155-ADNFCR
