Careful driving 'essential for motorhome owners during winter'
Motorhome owners should take great care on the roads during the autumn and winter, it has been claimed.
According to RoadSafe director Adrian Walsh, it is essential to allow longer for journeys as the light fades and temperatures drop.
He urged motorhome insurance customers to drive more slowly and smoothly, explaining that skidding is generally caused by harsh acceleration, steering or braking.
"If windows are covered in ice or misted-up, make sure they are totally clear before setting off don't be tempted simply to scrape a portion of the front screen," Mr Walsh added.
"Using headlights ensures other road users can see you, so keep lights and mirrors free from snow and ice, not just the windows."
He also called on drivers to leave more space between vehicles when on the roads as longer braking distances are required on slippery roads.
According to the Caravan Club, motorhome insurance is essential given the significant investment required to purchase such a vehicle.
