Brits save for home, heirs and happiness

Brits save for home, heirs and happiness
Skipton Building Society has announced that the three main factors driving savers to find the best interest savings rates are their homes, heirs and happiness.

The new research from the Society has shown that deposits for a new home are top of the list of priorities for savers.

Savers are also putting away money for their children's inheritance, their own retirement and cash for a holiday.

The research also revealed that consumers looking for the best savings rates are saving for some very unique reasons such as, buying a new hand bag, saving for beer and funds to run away also featuring on the list.

Kris Brewster, head of products at Skipton Building Society, said: "While the more serious topics such as homes, retirement and providing for the future feature in our list, there are clearly also some much more fun goals people are setting themselves to save up for."

Skipton's research has shown that Brits are being very creative when it comes to their savings goals and it appears that when people have an aim for their savings they are more likely to put money away on a regular basis.

The Building Society recently launched a range of individual goal-based savings accounts aimed at achieving the best savings rates for each individual customer's needs.
