Brits installing insulation to cut energybills

Brits installing insulation to cut energy bills
A growing number of Brits are cutting their energy bills by installing insulation, leaving more cash available to earn the best savings interest rates.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change has reported that 58 per cent of suitable homes have now installed cavity wall or loft insulation, potentially saving themselves £100 a year.

Chris Huhne, the energy and climate change secretary, has warned energy companies that they are at risk of missing the government's home energy efficiency targets and need to double their insulation rates.

He said: "More than £100 can be knocked off your bill if you get your loft lagged and cavity walls filled and thanks to tough government targets for the Big Six energy companies, consumers can get free or discounted insulation."

Consumer Focus energy expert Liz Laine recently warned that this insulation scheme is not helping enough of those families that are currently in fuel poverty.ADNFCR-2088-ID-800723072-ADNFCR
