There used be a time when Access your flexible friend was used to pay for your big money items.
Today, if you’re in need of a new car, TV or holiday, you may need a big credit card budget to cover it but which credit card should you choose?
Whilst they all serve a similar purpose, which is the best for splashing your cash?
The credit card market is hugely competitive and banks/lenders are forever changing and introducing new credit cards.
The majority of them offer 0% on purchases and balance transfers for a set promotional period. So when you’re on the hunt for some new plastic, be sure to check out the various APRs for comparison.
Luckily, we’ve done all the hard work for you. Here are our top credit cards for big buys with the best purchase rates around.
Tesco Bank Clubcard Credit Card
Taking the top spot for lengthy 0% interest on purchases is the Tesco Bank Clubcard credit card. For 15 months, you can borrow up to £1,200 at 0% interest. After the 15 month period, the representative variable rate will be 16.9%.
This is a relatively attractive rate in comparison to other cards, which may offer a higher interest rate after the promotional period, which is shorter.
If you’re buying large goods, you will have no interest to pay on it for up to 15 months. Not only that, but you will also be awarded 1 Tesco point for every £4 you spend.
These points can be converted to Tesco vouchers, allowing you to earn while you spend.
You must have a minimum income of £5,000 to be eligible.
Halifax All in One MasterCard
This card also offers 0% on purchases for 15 months, but it also offers 0% on balance transfers for 15 months.
However, the APR is slightly higher at 17.9%. There is no minimum income for this, but it is not available to existing customers.
The APR and length of the promotion depends on your personal circumstances. Both cards come with internet fraud protection.
Barclaycard Platinum Credit Card
The Barclaycard Platinum Credit Card offers 14 months at 0% interest on purchases and balances. The card has a representative variable rate of 18.9%.
You must have a minimum income of £20,000 to be eligible and also be 21 years or older.
