A third of Brits leave money to pets

A third of Brits leave money to pets
People aiming to build up a nest egg in accounts with the best savings interest rates could find themselves leaving a considerable chunk to their pets.

New research from MORE TH>N revealed that British pet owners are expected to bequeath £26 billion to their pets, with many likely to do so without telling friends and family members.

The company found that over 35 per cent of pet owners plan to leave over £10,000 to their furry friends in their will, with a further 37 per cent admitting an intention to leave a pet more than a close friend or relative.

"Pet owners are naturally concerned about the long term care of their pets and many are taking the necessary steps to make sure they are provided for in their wills," said John Ellenger, head of MORE TH>N pet insurance.

He added that if those building up money in accounts with the best savings rates want to leave funds to their pets, they ought to seek advice to ensure their wishes are carried out.

Recently, late designer Alexander McQueen left £50,000 to each of his pets.ADNFCR-2088-ID-800638894-ADNFCR
