A lottery win can be alienating
Winning the lottery may be the dream of those looking for payday loans, but it can be very alienating, it has been claimed.
John Rushton, author and founder of thelifealchemist.org, said that very often people do not want to go public with a lottery win because suddenly becoming wealthy can trigger difficult reactions in their friends and family.
"And all of a sudden you walk into a pub with your friends, and everybody stares at you and the reason they stare is [because] you have to buy the drinks now - not them. All of a sudden they feel isolated, they [think] 'gosh, who are these people?'" he explained.
Mr Rushton said that friends and family can become jealous and lottery winners can feel alienated from their old lifestyle, and therefore their friends.
Elsabe Smit, founder of The Intuition Coach, agreed, adding that a lottery win will not solve the emotional or personal conflicts people are facing.
