Abbey Savings has increased its eSaver Direct account rate to 6.50% gross - including a bonus of 0.75% for 12 months from the date of opening. After 12 months the rate reverts to 5.75%.
The account is available to new and existing customers depositing money not previously held with Abbey. Interest is paid annually on the anniversary of account opening.
Customers will be rewarded for leaving their savings alone, but if they do need access to their money (in emergencies, for example), they can do so anytime. However, they will only receive interest of 2.75% on the total balance in any month in which money is withdrawn.
