Additional Services

Halifax is launching a new credit card exclusively for students - the new card charging 17.9% APR.

The card comes with a number of features including a free monthly text alert reminding cardholders of their payment due date and a free weekly text alert informing them of their balance. A maximum credit limit of £500 (cardholders can choose to set a lower limit when they activate their card) is in operation.

Meanwhile, an interest free period of up to 59 days' interest is available on purchases if you clear your balance in full every month. And there are no annual fees.

Also available is cover against online fraud when purchasing on the Internet, as well as a 24/7 service allowing you to manage your card online.

Student discounts accompanying the card include: £5 off http://www.firebox.com/; 10% off HP Store (Hewlett Packard) and up to 25% off Lonely Planet guides.
