There are strict rules governing firms and individuals that sell most financial products and offer advice on them. 

Only authorised IFAs may give advice on certain types of investment including life insurance personal pensions shares investment trusts unit trust and OEICs. In common with other IFAs Chase De Vere Private Clients personal financial planners earn their living through a mix of fees and commission. 

You generally have the option of paying fees for the advice you receive or paying nothing up front and allowing your adviser to take commission paid to them by the product provider.
