HSBC has two types of credit card and - it's standard and gold cards.

Search for the cheapest credit cards and apply online.

The HSBS gold card offers an interest-free period of three months on all new purchases. After this time a variable rate of interest will apply which will be set according to your personal borrowing eligibility. The HSBC gold card also offers 0% interest on balance transfers for 12 months, although a 2.5% balance transfer fee does apply.

If you hold a Bank Account Plus with HSBC you can redeem 10% of the interest paid on your HSBC gold card every year on 31 August. To gain these benefits however, you will need to apply for the gold card online.

HSBC's standard credit card can be applied for in a branch or on the phone. It offers 0% interest on new purchases for the first 12 months of the account opening as well as a low rate on balance transfers until 31 January 2012. However, as the with the HSBC gold card, a 2.5% balance transfer fee applies.

The APR you pay when interest does start to kick in will be variable and based on your credit record and circumstances. The typical APR is the same on the HSBC basic and gold credit cards.
