Citibank has three credit card offerings; one standard card and two cards affiliated with airlines, namely American Airlines and BMI.
Search for the cheapest credit cards and apply online.
The Citi Platinum MasterCard is the most vanilla of the three. It offers a low fixed rate on all balance transfers and 0.5% cashback on all new purchases. The rate you pay on purchases will depend on your criteria but it will be variable.
Other standard benefits of the card include a 12-month extended warrantee on electrical purchases and free legal and medical insurance (up to £250,000) while you are abroad.
The Citi/ AAdvantage Visa Gold Card also offers these benefits but throws in travel perks too. The card is affiliated with American Airlines (hence the two 'As' in the name of the credit card) and you will earn one 'AAdvantage mile' for every £1 you spend on the credit card.
Citi/ AAdvantage Visa Gold Card-holders will start paying one variable rate of interest immediately as the credit card does not offer any interest-free period on new purchases or balance transfers. It does however offer a lower introductory rate on any cash advances for six months.
The bmibaby credit card offers a free return flight from anywhere in BMI's travel network. Perhaps more useful is the 0% on balance transfers for a nine-month period.
